I have been reloading 168gr Nosler Custom Competition BTHP with 45.5gr of 4895.
This is the load that Garand shooters I know are using, and also the gang at the CMP forum recommended.
I have been shooting this load with amazing results.
The other day, I shot some CMP Greek loads, then shot my 168gr reloads right after. My reloads where actually milder recoil.
After asking questions and researching this, I found out that there is nothing secret about reloading for the Garand.
The CMP forum gang had everything set up for me. All that I had to do is find the most accurate load using 4895. All of the testing was between 44gr-47gr. I found for my Garand 45.5gr was the best load. Oal, bullet seating etc. can be found in reloading books and, once again, the CMP forum
