M1 carbine help

Postby Bong on Sun Jan 11, 2015 12:32 pm

Hi all I have an underwood 2-44 M1 carbine. I am looking to sell it. Need the money for my wedding. My problem is I am not %100 sure what it's worth. It does have some mix n match parts. Is there anyone on here that would be able to help me price it out. I have an idea what I think it's worth I am open to offers also. I have more photos of that will help

Looks like a $250 rifle to me, where do you want to meet to sell it? PM me!

Just because an auction closes at a high price doesn't mean the seller is getting that much. Those rifles are also a bit different than what the seller posted. He would be better off just dealing with me and cash.

I saw the gunbroker auctions that's where I was looking for a comparison. I was thinking it's in the $700-800 range.
Sorry but $250 is way to low

Ignore him.

Does it have any import markings? Look under the barrel or on the side of receiver.

What's the function like?

Does the stock have any markings?

Do you have the sling and oiler?

The CMP's auction page is not real world pricing also...gunbroker is likely to give you a better idea of national pricing trends...but bear in mind its really only worth what the market will bear.

It has no import marks. There is a U on the buttstock and a B on the under side of the trigger area. It looks like there is another mark by the B stamp but it's hard to tell. No oiler or sling. Functions great shoots good no issues there.

Refinished post-war stock maybe, doesn't add a ton to the value.

Typical mix-master, no sling, oiler or mags, round bolt, non-import marked, fully functional, decent bore, no rust or pitting -- you could probably get between $600-700 without trying too hard locally - the right buyer at the right time might pay more. Could also put it up on GB and maybe make an extra $50-60...but you'll be faced with shipping if the buyer is out of state.

Put it on here or ARMSLIST and let 'er buck!

Good luck on your sale.

Forums.thecmp.org is another good place for USGI firearm info!

I'm not sure of the particular collector points, but in general, I believe the last time the CMP had 'em available outside of auction the carbines were going for $500-$600 for service grades - and they're all gone now. So I'd start in that area.

But one must ask themselves: Should I drop the carbine, or the fiance? ;)
