The 15 lb. weight is prohibitive.

15 lb?!? I handled one last weekend and there's no way it was more than 10.

The weight of the .308 is 9.7 lbs, the 6.5 is 10.6 lbs, and the .243 is 11.0 lbs, if I remember correct.

It's not a lightweight mountain hunting rifle; it's a precision competition and sniper rifle. If you compare the weight to a similarly designated rifle like an AI AT, FN SPR A5M, Sako TRG-22 or similar, it winds up being pretty acceptable for weight.

I bought one from DKmags last week, $999.99
Just put a Harris Bi-pod, nikon Monarch 4-16 42mm Scope on it. waiting for a shim for my compensator and then I will take it to the range to zero, order my xr custom turret from nikon, and then the real fun will begin.

Looks to be a nice setup but I think I'll wait to see how the Siete pans out.

Don't buy a Siete. It does nothing new, but will likely cost $3k just for the name. Plus, Mark LaRue is a total dick.

My experience with LaRue products has been nothing but amazing. Even the battle mixer is fantastic and the dust is great on cream cheese stuffed jalapeño boats. Anyway a LaRue discussion would be for another thread. It's nice to see Ruger evolving.

I'm sure it has, they make great AR's. As for the Siete, it appears to be nothing more than another Remington clone action in a chassis. I'm sure it'll sell like hotcakes to the LaRue fans, but it doesn't do anything that any other Remington or clone in a chassis already does, it'll just cost a lot more. Mark LaRue's name is worth nothing to me, so if I'm going to spend $3k on a rifle, my gunsmith is going to build it to my spec. If I just want a rifle that'll shoot sub-MOA like the Siete, I have quite a few other options for around 1/3 the price, including apparently the RPR. I've purchased exactly 2 Remington 700's in my life, 1 a 700P for $799, the other an LTR for $849. Both shot 3/4 MOA with no load work at all. The rifles that I've spent $3k+ on are a heck of a lot more than what LaRue is offering.

Just came across this photo in the current OGC Newsletter. I think the club had previously sold the ammo used.

Given that this rifle seems to be a hit for Ruger, it will be interesting to see the industry's response, in terms of new offerings from some of the other big gun companies.

The RPC is a $1k rifle. The Siete is estimated at $4500, which is comparable to the DT SRSA1 and custom rifles from more reputable custom rifle companies like GA Precision, Surgeon, Robar, etc. This is not to mention that you're dealing with a .300WM and not the .308 or 6.5CM of the RPC. I would venture a guess to say that it's going to be at least another 6 months to year before the Siete sees full production and orders are completed.

It's apples vs oranges.

And in the realm of oranges vs oranges, there are other rifles on the market that are going to be a better value than the LaRue Siete. With the RPC, it's pretty well in a boat of its own with what it offers.

I said I'd like to see how it pans out, get the actual pricing on it and see how well it shoots. I can't believe it'll be a $4500 rifle and I also didn't think LaRue would have a $700 suppressor. I've currently got a LaRue barrel in my parts bin at home that needs to be mounted and I'll see how well I can shoot it.
