School me on 9mm AR's.

Discussion of rifles, shotguns, and muzzleloaders

I've taken a good look at the CX4 and I see Sierra Papa has metal trigger parts, and a full metal trigger chassis. They can also mill and flat top the upper with a full length picatinny rail, since I've seen the sights and they leave a bit to be desired. All of that doubles the cost of the rifle. You're now in premium AR prices, and I'm much more familiar with AR's. Still a cool carbine.

I've looked up some of the other 9mm carbine suggestions from BB but it seems they are either hit or miss in quality, or expensive, or hard to find parts for, etc. The Ruger PC9 looks fun (and hard to find), even if it's not "tactical" looking, and Ruger is still in business. In the end I might just go the AR route with metalform mags.

The TNW Aero Survival Rifle is pretty high on my list right now. We carry these as well as the JRC and I much prefer the TNW

Their website has that at a pretty sweet price point as well.

OK, that's a pretty slick looking rifle. And made by a smaller company but at least one that has been around a while that has a good repuration. It isn't a one-product company that will disappear once sales are down for it's one product.

What is the street price of those guns?

699 for rifles and 649 for the pistols

They come apart into a compact package without tools (barrel spins off), and I like that you can get other caliber conversions for it.

All take Glock mags and the magwells are designed for them, not modified

I stumbled across this video, a guy made a homemade glock magwell adapter that uses the normal AR mag catch to latch the mag in place and he claims it runs 100%. Looks like he decided to leave out the last round BHO, which is not a deal breaker for me if it actually works.

Went and handled both at Bill's today. The JRC take down model feels more substantial and more AR like than the TNW.

I do like that fact the JRC also accepts standard AR triggers and is threaded for a can.

Now to decide if I really need one....

What does "need" have to do with it?

Absolutely nothing, but I did buy a Coonan, 929 and a Parker already this year. So I'm just consider how much more time in the dog house I'll spend with the wife.

I've got a CMMG 9mm SBR and it's hands down one of my favorite guns. I run the Brownell's magazines in it with no issues. I built the gun on a CMMG lower with a Colt upper and ramped BCG.
