Remington 700 SPS AAC-SD Sight In

Postby JohnGageMN on Sat Mar 12, 2016 9:57 pm

After two range sessions I have to say I'm very happy with my new rifle.

Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD in .308
Vortex Viper PST 4 - 16 X 50 with FFP MRAD reticle
Nightforce X-Treme Duty 20 MOA one piece steel base
Nightforce X-Treme Duty 30mm steel rings
Harris HBRMS Bipod

Best groups have been with Federal Gold Medal Match with either 168 or 175 grain SMKs, these are all 5 shots:

The flier here was definitely my fault. Too bad because this was an amazing grouping:

Really nice groupings. Anxious to see how you do when you get out past 25 yards. What distance were you shooting at, and how many rounds do you have through that rifle now??

I bought the Varmint version of the same rifle, also in .308, put a Nikon Pro-staff on it with the BDC reticle, and 50mm. I haven't been to the range due to the range up here is barely accessable in the winter, and probably not for another two or three months yet. Sure will be nice when the new range is put into use, sometime this year.

Hoping I can get groupings like that, with practice.

Thanks for the encouraging post.

Looks like the 100 yard range at OGC.

Nice shooting.

See you out there sometime. Just booked my two days of range duty for the year.

@harryset as hardh20 opined this was at the 100 yard range at Oakdale Gun Club. After two range sessions it has 120 rounds down the pipe. It's been shooting well since the first box of ammo, so I didn't do any of the fabled "barrel break in" procedures other than a good cleaning after each range session.
