If the CRR model is the one with the shorter wood stock, barrel band and shorter blued barrel... There is one in the Gunstop, at least Friday there was.

I'm on my 3rd 10/22, first one the wife has, second one the youngest son has. Picked up the Wal Mart special several years ago, stainless 22" barreled model.
Only thing I did to it was the Power Custom sear and hammer kit, with the shims and springs. What a difference in trigger pull, well worth the money.
Blast to shoot and plenty accurate as it sits. Son thinks he as to have the Evolution stock from Boyd's for his. I just sold the wife's and picked up the pink laminate version.

The current model was put together for me by someone who actually KNOWS what he's doing. A&B stainless barrel, Volquartsen internals, Boyd blaster stock, Nikon glass. When I feed it Eley Practice 100 (no longer available) it'll cut a nice hole on the fifty all day long. Better yet, it drops tree rats like Grant took Richmond. If I can get the glass on 'em, they fall down. And i KNOW it's not the shooter! ;)

The only downside is that stock. Sure looks great, but lugging it around all day gets to be stale. I was tempted to swap it out for a Hogue but I'm afraid I'll never get it to shoot like it does now. I shoot this more than anything else and next to my FAL it's a favorite.
Fortunately, I wasn't cursed with the need to be liked.

I got my deluxe model 10/22 back in the 80's. I put in a better trigger group I found at Cabela's one time and topped it with a nice Bushnel scope for rimfires and it's a great shooter. I can routinely hit 2" targets at 100 yards with cheap ammo. I want to add a bolt action rimfire and can't decide between a stainless synthetic 10/77 or one of the newer .17's. I'm leaning towards the .17.

The 10/22 is a wonderful gun. Mine is rigged witha Hogue Stock - Butler Creek Match Fluted HB, and a Bushnell Scope and a Standard Weaver base.

I shoot the Wally World Federal Cheapo HP's and lets say that at 50 - I can pierce your ears quite handily - all day. At 100 it shoots very respectable groups.

Absolutely wonderful gun - it would be one of the tools that I would grab FIRST if we had an EOW sitation.

i've had a stock 10/22 for a few years now - have always been happy with it except lately i have been getting more and more stove pipes. anyone else have the same problem or know an easy fix? i'm much more familiar with my handguns than the rifles; any help is much appreciated.

Mine stovepipes, or fails to extract about 1 out of every 10 rounds. I believe the ammo I'm trying to get through isn't helping anything.

Still though, a 10/22 should cycle about anything you feed it, by reputation. So when I get around to it, it will go to Ruger. Got a new .223 though, so the .22 isn't on top of the list.

I don't think I'd send it back to Ruger. Give it a good cleaning to make sure the bolt isn't all gummed up and that the notch in the chamber for the extractor and the extractor itself are clean. You could also replace the extractor with a VQ one, which often will eliminate the FTE / stovepipes simply due to the better performance of the sharp lip on the VQ extractor.

True, have thought about replacing parts myself, except I don't see how the bolt comes apart, or how you replace the extractor. Is that difficult to do? I'm sure its fairly simple if you know what to look for. Have any info on that? I'd rather buy a new part, than just pay shipping to Ruger, only to have it come back 100% unchanged.

ETA: Wow, I hit Rimfire Sports & Custom, they have the Volq Extractors for $11.50 and free shipping. One is on the way, definitely worth a try for that price. Would be lucky to ship it one way to Ruger for that. Now to find some sort of instructions for replacing it.

The 10/22 is very easy to work on, AR15.com or rimfire.com have a lot of information on their sites.

I shot my Ruger/Volquartsen this past weekend with some FTF and some double feeds. In my case I think it is the ammo and Butler Creek mags. I will be trying different ones. They sure are fun to shoot.

Here's mine. It's a Talo version USST model. It came with the heavy match stainless barrel. I've added Volquartsen trigger, bolt holdback, and mag release. It shoots very well. It was a lot of money, but I got a good deal on it.

got the volq exact edge extractor and a couple other goodies - took me probably 4 minnutes flat to install the extractor having never even seen one before.

it's a night and day difference!!! took it ot the range and with a decent bitler creek clip i had 0% failure to extract and stovepipes.

best $12 i ever spent!
