Well. after much deliberation I have finally come home with another mouth to feed. I was considering many other options, but found this one and fell in love with it. Here are the specs.

Built on a winchester model 70 action chambered in .223
Custom fit stock, bedded.
Custom stainless 22" Barrel, recessed target crown, 1:8 twist
Trigger is adjusted to about 1.5lbs
Glass is a Nikon Monarch 6.5 - 20

I got it used, but overall it's in great shape. Range report will follow, it will be a long, LONG 20 hours from now before I send some rounds through it.

All things considered.... Me = :D :D :D

What reticle do you have in that scope? I have one on my .308, and it's pretty nice glass for the money. Actually, really nice glass for the money.

Nothing special, just fine crosshairs. Suits me just fine though. I have heard great things about the Monarch line, I was really glad to see that they wanted to part with the scope as well as the rifle :D

Strad, if you could, let me know how the scope performs. I'm thinking about getting a Monarch, and although they're a good name in scopes, I want a first hand review of it from some random guy off the interwebz  (really I do though)

Here goes the range report. The rifle is much more accurate than I will ever be, so it's great for me to learn on. Mostly great to shoot, but with the big bull barrel the mirage effect in the scope was really apparent when it heated up. The trigger is fantastic, very light, very clean break. (not as light as the Savage accutrigger I tried that day, man that one was scary light. ) Sochr, the scope is great. Great clarity, easy to adjust, and the eye relief is really forgiving, even at the higher magnification. If you would like to get together to give it a try send me a PM, and we will hit the range and give it a go.

I know, once again, that this is not terribly impressive to a lot of you, but with my limited ability, this is representative of the groups I was able to get today at 100 yards. 5 shots, one of which was a flier. I'm still pretty happy with it.

Once again, me = :D :D :D

As far as the Monarch goes, do the post adjustments "click"? I have a leupold and don't like that any adjustments are eye-balled(that and it's a 3x9 so not that good for varmint).

Get some 50gr Bergers for drilling holes, for long distance look getting the proper tools to set up for VLD bullets like the Hornady OAL gauge and then look at 75gr AMax, 75gr Berger VLD, and 80gr OTM' from your 8 twist bbl.
