model 70 25 WSSM? opinions?

Postby zooperman85 on Sun Sep 27, 2009 10:54 pm

alright guys, i had set aside for me today at a gander mountain a used win model 70 coyote WSSM. wood laminate stock, heavy blued barrel, mint shape. the price for me is gonna be 300... my question is, does anyone have any experience with one of these things. ive read quite a few reviews on the 25 wssm and its 6 one way half dozen the other. let me also state that i have no specific purpose for this rifle. maybe day someday, coyote for sure, stuff like that. i have never owned a wssm so i cant really know how the accuracy is or there is ever any real problems with them. some reviews said that they can have feeding issues but most people said they had never had that. i noticed that ammo is slightly expensive but these days what ammo isnt unless all you shoot is .22.... lastly, i read reviews that were all the way back to 06, and people were sayin that in 2 years the ammo would be gone, which it clearly isnt, and you should either buy a ton of it and stock pile as best you can or get a die for it and just reload. whats you guys thoughts. is it to good a deal to pass up just to have a neat little cartridge... or is it really just not worth it. im honestly un decided here....

I love .25 cal rifles. I wanted on off these until I saw brass and ammo prices. Cheapest ammo I saw was $67.00 a box. Brass was well over two bucks a case.

Find a 25-06 or a .257 Roberts.

holy crap! even the stuff at gander (and gander is usually the most expensive) was between 30 and 40 a box. and that was for win bst, accubond, and some regular cheapie win. haha for almost 70 a box i better get one impressive lookin and performing cartridge lol

nice gun, decent round, as others have stated it is an expensive round to buy and sometimes a difficult one to find. I own a WSM and i like it but i am very aware of the fact that these things are a little rougher on bbls than their equivelant non mag round so make sure you dont heat that thing up too much. Aren't those little stubby wssm effers just cute as all get out though, they just scream shoot me
