Are the new Polymer coated steel cased .223 a lot better than the laquerd steel?

I want to get some cheap ammo.....but don't want to reck my gun...or should I stick with brass?

I would think that no matter what, it's still steel, which is what is hard on your extractor and chamber. Not the coating. As far as heating up and gumming goes like the laquer stuff, i don't know. I'd stick with brass man. Better safe than sorry and an ar that don't shoot

Steel ammo is for commie guns. Stick with the brass. (and feed me your empties)

Steel casing are a lot softer than extractors and ejectors. Just clean thoroughly and you'll be fine.

2 diff answers.....hmmm...

I am saving my empties.....I need to get a bag on my rifle, to make it easier.....at the current rate, just picking them up, I am losing about 30% of them...

I'll shoot steel cased ammo through most of my rifles. My one exception is my prairie dog guns, or anything with a stainless barrel.
I wouldn't worry about feeding it steel cased ammo, I'm just irrationally paranoid about my target guns.

Just don't feed it lacquer/poly coated ammo until the barrel heats up... then switch to brass. You will get a stuck case when the lacquer/polymer cools down and cements the brass round in place.
