Local Source to turn and headspace a new barrel?

Postby Shipyard on Mon Jun 28, 2010 11:04 am

i have a buddy that's looking to start a new long range target build. bolt gun platform. He's looking to get a barrel made 28" x 1" with a 1:6.5 twist chambered and headspaced for .223 rem.

I thought i'd ask for him who might be able to do something of that sort. he would like to keep it local if at all possible. I believe he has a source for a 30" blank picked out.

thanks.

AR barrel?

I just did a 24" with a .223 WYLDE chamber. I'm no professional by any means but I might consider doing it.
I put about 500 rounds through it two weeks ago out west:

If you want to look at it I could meet you somewhere with the one I built.

Jim Kobe is one of the finest Gunsmiths in MN.

Do a search and you'll see that he is highly regarded in both the Benchrest and the Hunting communities.

Doesn't have a website AFAIK but his telephone number is 1-952-884-6031

About all I've heard of people shooting out of those are the 85-95gr bergers, I believe you want a WYLDE chamber for those too to make use of the case capacity.
