Cooper rifles

Postby FJ540 on Sat Jul 10, 2010 5:07 pm

Anyone have anything to say about them?

There's a rather nice single shot bolt action .308 down at cabela's in Owatonna. Maybe it'll still be there when the August cash back cards come out.

Considering they're asking $100 less than list on a gun that's got a few blemishes, I'm thinking it's not going to be coming home with me.

I'm certainly intrigued by the Cooper 1/2" @100yds accuracy guaranty.

Just remember that ticket prices at cabela's are ALWAYS negotiable. Sometimes significantly so. You will never be unhappy with a Cooper. Ever.

I've been looking at some of them on gunbroker and all of them are showing single holes on their 100yd paper.

I can put all my rounds on a paper plate at 100yds rapid fire kneeling out of service rifles with russian crap ammo, funny guy. ;) With my Colt Accurized, I use to keep them all in the 10 ring at 300yds with cheap ammo. Now if I could only shoot half as well with a pistol these days...

I knew I remembered the Cooper name from somewhere, but couldn't place it yesterday - Dan Cooper's the one who gave bama $3K and sent the gun community nuts in `08.

That's what they'd like us to believe anyway.

The folks who work there sure do make some nice rifles...

I thought I saw somewhere that the test targets were shot at 50 yds. I could be wrong though..

Rimfire's are 50yds, center fires are 100. The gun's are guaranteed to shoot 1/2" at 100yds. I've even read that they'll take them back for warranty work if they ever fail to do so.

Now the question is what do I want it chambered in and will I ever get the balls to bring it into the field if I bought one? All the more reason to buy the pre-chewed one they have in Owatonna, but the price is higher than as-new ones on GB.
