Cobray Street Sweeper

Postby Bulldawg on Wed Jul 06, 2011 7:27 am

I came accross a nice firearms collection which is part of an estate sale and am going to bid on the entire lot today. I was able to locate approx values and info on all of the guns except one, a Cobray Street Sweeper. It is a short barrelled 12ga with a 12 round revolving drum magazine and folding stock. I did an internet search and found some basic info on the gun and a few youtube videos of them being fired. Do any of you have personal experience with the Cobray or know an approx value range. There was none listed on Gunbroker that I could find, just not sure what its worth or how desireable they are to collectors. Thanks in advance for any info...

That might be considered a NFA class III weapon. They where grandfathered in. Someone with more knowledge please feel free to correct me please.

That was one of my concerns as well, it is semi-auto sort of, more like a revolver.

If i recall when they first came out they didn't need to be registered. All of a sudden they where a destructive device and owners where allowed to keep them & register them. They waived the $200.00 tax stamp fee.

yep. heads up.

http://www.atf.gov/regulations-rulings/rulings/atf-rulings/atf-ruling-2001-1.html

The registration period for the USAS-12, Striker-12, and Streetsweeper shotguns will close on May 1, 2001.

ATF Ruling 2001-1

Pursuant to ATF Rulings 94-1 (ATF Q.B. 1994-1, 22) and 94-2 (ATF Q.B. 1994-1, 24), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) classified the USAS-12, Striker 12, and Streetsweeper shotguns as destructive devices under the National Firearms Act (NFA), 26 U.S.C. Chapter 53. The NFA requires that certain "firearms" be registered and imposes taxes on their making and transfer. The term "firearm" is defined in section 5845 to include "destructive devices." The term "destructive device" is defined in section 5845(f)(2) as follows:

sweepers are another great product. Just like indoor floors, outdoor surfaces are prone to dirt, litter, grime, and other trash. Whether for parking lots, roads, stadiums, playgrounds, or other paved areas, Sweeperland has several street sweeper models and sizes to choose from.

Hey Fred - I've got some stuff my dog left behind that you're welcome to sweep up -- just give me a phone number and email address to contact you.

of course, I might just start spamming you as well

Probably the last NFA gun you would ever want. Very prone to jamming, slow to load, awful trigger, and uncomfortable to shoot. A Saiga with drum will do the same thing much better.
