Slow Motion .450 Bushmaster

Postby MnHornet on Tue Sep 20, 2011 7:15 am

Mike took this video of my Thumper a couple weekends ago at the range. I was a little surprised by the barrel whip.

Very Interesting.
How sophisticated(read $) of a camera does one need for such work. And what might it take to go even slower-mo?

Mike knows people that know people. So he got it cheap. They quit making the camera and now are hard to find. When you do find them though, they are now pretty spendy.

Mike would have to answer that. I doubt you could get a higher speed camera without spending a ton of $$$$$.

I'm pretty sure this is the one. It was the only consumer model made (that I know of) that filmed 600fps. I have its little brother, and they are really cool cameras. Hard to find the one listed above for less than $1200

As mentioned before, out of production, but if you're really interested they can be found on eBay.

You've got to really want it though...... The still image quality isn't much better than a $200 point and shoot, (imho) so all that extra money is for high speed video.

I like the Tommas Train videos and the lightning from Sandia Peak. We had lightning ON Sandia while we were up there, Very Scary :o

It would appear there are other models out now that can do 1000fps and cost only $220.

Casio EX-FC150

And here is another more costly model in a "dslr" type body.

You know, those cameras too seem to be in limited supply. They might be out of production as well. Just a few new ones floating around. The reviews are good for slow mo video on them if that is what you want to do. There are some sample on Youtube of stuff from these cameras.

Good Luck

Be careful with the ex-fs anything. I have the ex-fs10 and it is great........ For what it is. It also touts the capability of shooting at 210, 420 and 1000fps. And it does........ But anything over 210fps with it is borderline useless. At 1000fps it gives a quarter the video size of 210, and requires a TON of light. Were talking blinded by 1,000 watt bulb kind of light to get a usable video. Even then the quality is grainy and noisy. Mostly just a novelty.

Gee..... If only there were some way to report posts that the OP felt were too far off topic........ And if only we had moderators that might be able to split said posts off to their own respective category.......

:hmm:
