This would be a blast for predator hunting, but in a prairie dogs fields I would waste a barrel in minutes.

I stole this from a post by Olympic Arms on another forum.

That would cool! :exactly:
Even better with the correct rings for the scope. A muzzle brake to boot would be nice to watch what you shot at.

Why not just get an AR-10 with a 22-250 upper?

Waste a barrel in minutes? Are 22-250 known to burn up barrels in a hurry when they get hot?

My only experience with the cartridge involved a heavy barreled bolt action coyote gun.

I think for the money i am best off sticking with my .223 for p-dogs.

AR10 platform throw a heavy barrel and JP heat sink on it, and it will cut down on the barrel temp.

Should still be good for 5k rounds. Probably more than anyone here would shoot.

Yup 22-250 would not be my choice in a high volume auto. If you have a barrel built to handle 75gr bullets in .223 you are more than equiped to deal with those longer ranges and slightly bigger beasts.

Most guys with 22-250's are not looking to shoot heavy bullets, they are lookin for speed and explosive hits, I've never fired anything over 40gr out of my pair, 4400 fps is sure fun on little critters, red mist.

As far are bbl life, it's one of the worst out there, 1-1.5k before she's done, still might hold 1moa or so for a bit after that but the throat will be gone as will be the first couple inches of rifling, if it was a 1/4moa shooter it won't be for long, but it's all about the fun you have up till that point :D
