looks identical in design to the springfield arms co, savage, H&R and another one i got but can't remember the obscure maker (iver johnson i think?) - simple break action 12 ga of the early 1910's to 1930's. not a lot of info out there on them as far as individual makers - they were the cheapest workhorse of the 12 gauges, farm gun mainly sold by the thousands and thousands out of every sears and hardware store in the land.
the springields, sears/roebuck etc i've researched are worth abut $50 - $100. i've bought and sold several as wall hangers due to the age of the steel vs. modern ammo. these were all made/used with paper shotshells from a time long ago past us by... i'd fire it at your own risk.
that's what i got on it. google springfield arms or savage break actoin 12 gauge and you can drum up some info on the basic design.
never seen a st. paul arms. might just be a stamp added to a generic manufacture for sale out of a certain chain or hardware store rather than a makers mark. i know back in the day it wasn't uncommon for sears or other chains to buy guns made my remmington or winchester and have thier own name stamped on them. my grandaddy had a 12 gauge pump from the mid 40's that was a winchester make but stamped sears/roebuck catalog. pretty neat.
i do what i can, where i'm needed, and i ask so little in return. i'm a true humanitarian fueled by rainbows and whiskey. you should be so lucky to know me...
