Model 52 heavy barrel .22

Postby KimberJoe on Sun Nov 27, 2011 2:39 pm

This was my grandfathers rifle that he used to shoot in competitions with while in the Army/Marines (switched to Army after Korea to fly huey's).

The scope is a J unertl, and this gun is scary accurate. At the range I normally use it almost gets boring hitting pennies at 100+ yards.

Anybody else have one of these?

What should my insurance value be? I never plan on selling at as my own grandsons drool over it as it is, but since I have no extra riders on my homeowners I'd hate to have a problem and find out it's not covered.

I have the leather arm strap and heavy ball grip that goes into the mag slot for steady unsupported shooting.

My grandfather was kind of short, so the stock has been cut down to fit his 5' 2" frame.

Any easy fix to correct that for my 6' frame?

An ugly spacer, a repo stock, a NOS stock (haven't found either online yet), buying a stock blank and inletting to fit, etc.

If it's an 82, though, stocks are available.

It's a 52B.

Any idea how much it would cost me to have a new stock made?

The system for adjusting the leather bicep strap would require some extra work.

some ideas but keep in mind these may be asking price and may be high.

Thanks, looks like the scope runs in the 800-1,000 range, and the rifle in the 500-750 range.

Insurance value is another ballgame from what I've read, sometimes as much as 50% higher than actual cash value.

Anyone know how they formulate replacement values?
