Marlin Rifles suffering from quality issues?

Postby Cadet on Mon May 21, 2012 4:31 pm

Ive been looking into buying a Marlin 1895 SBL or GBL this fall but I have been finding lots of recent posts saying that the recent guns have been having issues with misaligned barrels, sights, poorly fitted stocks etc, has anyone had/ heard of any poor experiences with marlin lever guns recently

I would suggest looking at one in person rather than buying sight unseen. Most of them are fine, but there do seem to be an awful lot of bad ones slipping past quality control. Cycle the action to make sure there is no roughness or binding, and that the sights line up. Some of the stocks I have seen have been way too fat, and thicker on one side than the other. Or, find a nice used one, there are plenty of them out there.
