My First Uzi!

Postby Scratch on Tue Jun 26, 2012 4:53 pm

You may remember my threads I posted about "What gun should I get next?"

First, I ended up with an AK, and then a few more of them....
Then I ended up with an AR, and then another one of those...
Most recently, I was thinking about getting an SBR AR15.....

But in those threads, I always said something like, "I keep thinking UZI!"

Well, my Uzi came in this morning and I am very excited! I got the rifle, 4-32 round mags, 2-25 round mags, a separate wood stock, a sling and a second top cover for 550.00 off of Gunbroker.

I love this thing! It seems whenever I get a new firearm platform, I always get all excited and say "This is my new favorite gun!" but this thing is really fun to shoot! At 8 pounds in such a small package, It's heavy... don't get me wrong.... but that heaviness makes it real easy to control. It's just plain fun to shoot! I only got to try some shooting at 10 and 25 yards today, but hopefully I'll get to try some 100 yard shots later this week. I've heard the folding stock is hard on your cheek, but I can really get a great cheek weld on it and to me it seems weirdly comfortable... and once I get locked into that cheek weld, that front sight doesn't move in the rear peep at all.

I was having a bugger of a time getting it to cycle with HP’s though. They would always get hung up on the edge of the barrel or feed ramp. I could run that cheap steel cased WPA and brass UMC FMJ's through it all day long with no problems, but I tried 2 different types of HP’s, along with my HP reloads, and I could never get more than 5-10 in a row.

Either way…. I love this thing, I know… it’s a Century build, but it ran flawlessly using 300 rounds of WPA and 300 of UMC ammo through it, and it looks awesome!

So here’s the pics of my entry, into the Uzi family of firearms. Enjoy... I know I will:

Awesome! :) I have yet to add an UZI to my collection, but it's definitely at the top of my list.

Nice! The Uzi has always been one of my favorite guns, and I was thrilled to pick up an A-model a couple of years ago. I've heard good things about these new ones, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it for a long time. Thinking about a short barrel at all? As I'm sure you know, it really couldn't be any easier than with this gun. Drop it in and you're done (after the paperwork of course)!

Thanks guys.... Ive been wanting an Uzi for a long time. I don't think I'll SBR it. I don't really see the need to. I don't really care if it has a short or long barrel as I like the look either way. I do like the look of them with supressors though so I think I might get a fake can for it. I'd go real can, but again... Not sure if I need the quietness of it. I just like the look of them.

That looks sharp and it sounds like you got a great deal on it. Time to stock up on more mags, they are still super cheap.

Just curious, does that have a bayonet lug? A or B sights?
