Ammo help

Postby MN_Rez on Fri Jul 06, 2012 3:55 pm

So I am bran new to ARs and I recently bought a RRA LAR-15 and after looking at it closer it says that it is a 5.56 cal. My question is; and it may be a dumb one but this shoots both .223 and 5.56 correct? I also heard that a 5.56 will shoot .223 but a .223 will not chamber the 5.56, is this true or no? Thanks for the help

Not quite, .223 can be safely shot in a 5.56 chamber. 5.56 may chamber in a .223 but may cause unsafe chamber pressure. Not a dumb question, an important question.

Key point is to NEVER shoot 5.56 spec ammunition in a .223Rem chamber. You have a 5.56 chamber, so you're good for both 5.56 and .223.
