See how bottom of shell is bent... that's causing the jam... I've lubed and cycled the gun hundreds of times... check chamber and polished it... going to shoot it more this weekend. If it don't improve it may have to go back to Remington.

let us know what you find out.

I'd think if you aren't shining through the Sharpie on the shell/brass anywhere you'd be fine.

My shotguns cycle loaded shells just as easy as fired hulls, so expansion doesn't seem to be a big issue.

I bought a shotgun identical to yours a while ago. On mine the forearm was binding a little bit, and then even worse when I replaced it with the Magpul forend. Trouble there was it was a bit crooked when I tightened it the nut down. Little dickering with it and that went away, it was tight to pump otherwise.

weird. i think especially weird for an 870. I have seen a lot of pumps jam at some point but its usually due to short stroking. I want to know what remington says if you send it back.

Well I'm glad to say after doing a visual inspection side by side of both my 870 shotguns I found the problem with the tactical mode. Can you see the issue?

Here is what a good chamber should look like... (my field model)

Notice the notch on the rail... That's what the rim of the shell has been catching, and causing the jam... Nothing a little sanding and polishing can't fix...

Edit: After about 20mins of polishing, and getting that ridge out of the rail...

I can't now pump the action, and nothing jams. Will shoot it tomorrow, and let you know how I did.

Man that's ugly. If it's not smoothed out completely, I would pull the barrel and hit it with a small file to true that mess up.

The novice gun smithing might not be pretty, but it did fix the problem! I just ran 25 rounds though the gun... Not ONE single jam! And I know shooting it more and more will just do more polishing. Glad I was able to figure this out. My friend who says she knows everything about guns didn't even notice the damaged ejector when I let her look at the gun right after I bought it...

That wasn't a knock on you, It was for the guy who just pushed that one threw the line at Remington. Good job getting it working!

Also on another note... The Blackhawk specops gen 2 NRS (non recoil reduction system) stock works really well!

You should be able to send that in and get a replacement.

Just shot 50 more rounds though it today, and it runs 100%. I don't think I'm going to have to be sending it back, and be without it for how ever long it would take to get the repair done.

For my troubles with the shotgun, Remington sent me a pair of free hats in the mail...
