Where to get an Egyptian Maadi AKM?

I've decided that's the AK I want, but don't know where to look for good AK imports. I couldn't find anything good on gun broker, gunsamerica, or gun auction either. Any ideas?

If I remember right, the Maadi was a combination of a couple different variant parts. Not thought to be the best AK. The different variants start off at the same Russian blueprint, but each country who's made the AK has done something to try to make the design better, cheaper to produce, etc. So when you start doing a mix and match on AK parts the results can vary. I'm not sure who imported them, but I'm pretty sure they haven't been coming in for a while. I remember Bill's south had one quite a while back. If you are set on the Maadi, then I'm guessing they're like WASR's, do your homework on potential problems to look for, do a full inspection, you might end up with a very nice shooter.

From the research I've done, there are a few different types of Maadi's out there, and the better ones are considered to be the closest to a Soviet AKM available in the U.S. (manufactured and assembled in Egypt on Soviet imported equipment by Soviet trained engineers). Steyr, Intrac, PARS, and CAI imported them. The Steyr ones are pre-ban, and from what I can tell run about $1700-$2000, but I can't find one anywhere. I think the sub-par "frankenguns" you're referring to are some of the ones imported and assembled by CAI which were done with Maadi receivers and have Chinese barrels- the MISR-90s.
