Crowd funded 80% lower

Postby brauchma on Sun Feb 24, 2013 3:19 pm

I am thinking about doing it.

For a pledge of $50 you will receive a commemorative Lower with the Second Amendment embossed on the side. Plus a limited edition 2AM Arms T-shirt and a big social media shout-out if you choose.

How on earth can they do this? There's some guy who says it's not possible to make a billet lower for less than $300 and 14,000 tools on a 7 axis machine with custom butt scratcher!

Thanks for posting it. I think I'm gonna toss them a $50 towards their business. One more gun maker is always a good thing.

I did and I know 6 family members that did before me.

These guys tried the crow fund type process and got kicked off the other 2 sites. I kinda like the look of it.

You made a lower from a block of aluminum, or you finished a 80% lower?

There's a fellow in this thread who thinks making a lower from a hunk of stock is about as complicated as a moon landing. Several of us disagree. 8-)

Granted, the guys on the deal in this thread are only looking for seed money (not profits), but they're also not losing anything at the $50 price point.

Sorry, I was referring to the crowd fund purchase above. :)

Yeah, these guys want the tools with this seed money. They will make their money back on other projects. I think I know which thread you are referring to without even clicking through to it.

I totally just did this! What a cool deal.

To bad these guys don't understand that it takes some SERIOUS engineering and funds to make lowers, even 80% ones. Only asking for $30,000? That will get them like, 10 lowers with the cost and time of today's CNC machining. 8-)

I just got a notice that they're putting 2% of my payment to the NRA. Would it be wrong for me to ask them to fund GOCRA with my "contribution" instead?

This is a good deal for all of us. It has to give obama gut rot every time he looks at the industry reports knowing that guns are the hottest segment of the economy, and it's all his fault.

Looks great, I like that the trigger guard is built into the receiver.
Do any other manufacturers do that?
I'm guessing yes, but i haven't seen it before.

I believe most billet lowers have the option, I know Larue and DPMS have it for example...

I looked through the donation process, I never did see a place to include an address for delivery of the 80% lower.
Do ya just expect the not-yet-established company to search for the CC billing info, and mail a lower to that address?
