AK 47 parts swapping adventure complete!

Postby Doc Harvey on Wed Apr 24, 2013 2:21 pm

Just dropped in a Tapco G2 FCG & an AK recoil buffer. Previously swapped out the hand guards (MI lower and a US Palm upper hand gaurd for the Vortex SPARC), put an aluminum butt stock adapter, MAGPUL ACSL butt stock, Hogue over molded pistol grip, Tapco stubby VFG, added a Krebs Custom enhanced safety selector and an AK 74 style muzzle break. Not sure what else I want to do to it (except shoot it).

Day-um! That is one sexy AK!

IMO I'd ditch the stock rear iron sight and add an HK-style sight on the rear of the reciever cover (ala Galil), but I'd say that about any AK. With your reddot it's not a big deal. Just go shoot the hell out of it!

Sweet looking shooter!

What was the base rifle's country of origin or importer?

It's an Inter Ordinance, so it's 100% made in the US. They apparently had some initial quality control issues when they started out, but this one is pretty sweet. Fit and finish was great, and the only thing I didn't like was the cheesy plastic furniture it came with.

that's a sweet rifle! how long is it when you extend the stock all the way? that's my biggest gripe about AR stocks on AK rifles, with the stock fully extended they are insanely long. then again, Doc, you're a tall man.

You can put a travel stop in there easy enough.

it's just a hair over 36.25" all the way forward and almost 40" all the way extended.
