So - has anyone threaded their 7.62x54R mosin in 5/8-24 after chopping it down to 16"?

Pair it up with the new archangel stock that is coming out and you are on to something... My Type 53 is getting one of the stocks

I'm just looking at it as an experiment with another known flamethrower.

I think mine is threaded for 5/8-24. I'll check the tap and die I have when I get home. It is only 18 inches though...

I threaded mine as well, cut on lathe, but i opted for a brake. I also dropped it in one of those ati stocks, wish i woulda known that arch angel was gonna come out with that stock i woulda waited. oh well i guess im gonna have to build another mosin!

This isn't a build thread, this is a test thread. I know what shorty mosins are like, I've shot a factory carbine a couple times. What I'm curious about is how the mule kicking fire breathing beast would behave with a STD, and how the STD would perform it's essential functions with that weapon, and if it needs modification (the STD) to work or if the original design dimensions are good to go with the bigger firepower.

STD's were specifically designed for guns which don't kick much. Now I'm curious what they do on ones that kick hard.

You should make a special run just for mosin type rifle's and make a STD novelty large. Paint flames on it too

Do you have $2K to front for the materials and turning/knurling? Oh, and are you going to do the range testing and provide the ammo as well? That's another 2K easy. Oh wait, it's ammo no one wants. Make it $1500. There's a sizable investment made in these before ever being offered for sale. I got lucky on the .30's design, but the 5.56 took some tweaking before I got it right and that took a lot of ammo to prove out once I thought I had it.

If I had a flaming STD it would be an unsuccessful test and might as well be a Claymore or KX3 (although both are still heavy and over priced). I may run a special batch for RFB's (if they work) because the threads are exceptionally long on that barrel and it's an ideal application for the technology. I had to make a 3/8" spacer to get the STD to fit the muzzle where it should be, and that might prove to be the wrong spacing when I test fire it - time will tell.

In the interests of research, I am waiting for you to jump through the hoops to convert a Mosin to a pistol... say about a 10.5" barrel; to truly prove out the effectiveness of your STDs.

You pay the stamp, set up my trust, provide the rifle, and I'll SBR one. It'll be my trust and gun though.

This is more sexy than I ever thought possible with a Mosin. Bubba she ain't!
