My new M2 (Benny Hill)

Postby Mn01r6 on Mon Apr 28, 2014 2:23 pm

Well, the 3gun bug has bitten me pretty hard and after shooting last year with my Ducks Unlimited edition BPS pump (worst loading port in the world), I decided to step my game up a little.

I hope to add one pure competition gun each year over the next 3 years. This was my first - a Benelli M2 purchased from Triangle Shooting Sports that has had heavy modification for competition. The bolt has been lightened, an oversized bolt release and bolt handle have been installed, and a number of other non-visible modifications have been made. Most importantly, the loading port has been milled out to allow quad loading.

Image

Pictured along with the gun is my CR Speed competition belt, Carbon Arms 24 shell SSL Backbone, and my Glock 34.

This is really bad video of me loading 8 shells in about 4 seconds shoulder to shoulder. This was on my 3rd night of practice. It is a lot of fun practicing but your thumb gets raw after about 30 minutes.

That's a pretty nice gun, tactical shotgun match this Sunday. That would be a good way to break it in.

I wasn't aware of a tactical shotgun match this weekend but I plan on shooting the Jeff Kirkwold memorial 3gun on Sunday. I plan to make it to FLSC for tac shotgun June 14 before the Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun match later on that month but that will be my only dedicated tactical shotgun practice before that match.

I am hoping Jay will count the memorial 3gun as my 3rd and let me participate in the advanced 3gun skills builder. We shall see. :)

Hey, that's a really nice shotgun! Did they have it in stock and ready to go, or did they do the mods when you placed the order? What kind of turnaround time if they built it to order? I've got an M2 also and have thought about sending it in to them before, but it'll probably be a long while before I have the time to even dip my toe into the 3 gun pool...

Thanks,
Erik

They initially quoted me about a month, but it was only a week before they shipped it.

There are tactical shotgun matches too - I would be happy to let you run my gun at the one in June if you want to try it out!

CarRacer

The Tactical Shotgun Match scheduled for Sunday has been replaced the Memorial 3-gun match. This should be a good time. Check out the Jeff Kirkwold Memorial match facebook page for more details.

Sorry to intrude on your thread. Great shotgun by the way. Benny Hill is one of the better known smiths for 3-gun weapons.

Hey thanks, I appreciate the offer. As it stands now, I just don't have any time for anything other than Highpower and long range matches. I have 38 more days of matches on my calendar between now and October 5, so I just can't squeeze much else in. Hopefully I'll be able to retire someday and have the time(and $) to do everything I want….

Thanks for the correction, I just came here to say the same. I'm looking forward to the shoot off portion of that event.

Wow! Nice shotgun.
