I drank the 300BLK Kool Aid

Postby Scratch on Mon Dec 15, 2014 9:37 pm

...and finally entered into the world of 30 caliber AR15's.

I had a bunch of spare parts lying around so I thought I'd put an upper together. I already had a stripped upper, upper parts kit, handguard, MBUS, AFG, and a gas block and tube... So all I had to buy was the barrel. I also splurged and went with a PWS FSC 30 on the end. I have no plans on going subsonic with this ( ...I say that now...) and was really wanting just to try out the caliber since I've never had one.

The barrel is 10.5" long, with a 1/7 twist, and for now... will share lowers, atop my pistol build with the Sig brace and Law Tactical gen 3, FSA.

I just finally finished it up today, but haven't got a chance to shoot it yet. I have dies, primers, bullets, and over 1000 pieces of prepped brass... But haven't found any powder for it yet. If the weather ever gets as nice as it was these past few days, I might have to break down and buy some factory ammo just to try it out!

The Aimpoint PRO was borrowed from another rifle for the pic, as I haven't decided what type of optics I'll go with for this yet. I'm thinking possibly the Primary Arms advanced micro dot.... We'll see...

Can't wait to try it out!

Nice looking rifle. Who made the barrel
Some say that he lives in a tree, and that his sweat can be used to clean precious metals... all we know is, he's called the Stig.

You'll love it! I absolutely love mine. I have one in a 16" and will most likely list that one to get rid of it. The 10.5" is for sure the way to go.

Definitely one of my favorites. Cool dude.

Do you mean the Sig arm brace...? They've been around for a while now. They even have a newer model out. I have the first version.

I guess, I assume there is an advantage to it? I love that the tech behind a 60 some year old rifle design keeps improving :)

The advantage is that it's not a 'stock' and can be affixed to an ar pistol w/o any NFA hullabaloo. Now watch out with foregrips, a vertical one would make it "no longer designed to shoot with one hand" and would cause the weapon to become a SBR and subject to NFA laws, regardless of the presence of a stock.

Unless OAL is over 26". This one looks like it's probably more like 24" or so, though.
