Beretta PX4 carbine

Postby patrick on Tue Jul 28, 2015 10:40 am

Anybody have one of these? What do you think of it?I'm in the mood for a pistol caliber carbine.I was thinking a Sig MPX or CZ Scorpion and SBRing it.But the PX4 looks tempting. It'll pretty much be a toy but I might use it for HD as well.Looking for something short and the PX4 is advertised as being only 29.7".

I think you mean the CX4 - I have one in .40 and love it. It's a great little carbine.

I think it would work nicely for a HD gun -- I use something else for that purpose, but I think it would do the job without any issue.

You can buy accessory rails from Beretta (or online at various places) for the 2 sides and underneath on the front. I have a light and a red dot mounted on mine.

I see that Arnzen has a used one for sale...you could buy it to remove the temptation from me (not mine nor am I affiliated with it or the shop in any way - I've always had a curious fascination with this model though).

I was doing some research and found out that the hammer, trigger, and guide rod are plastic on these. There's a company that makes metal replacements but they are a bit spendy.I might buy one any way.

The Sierra Pappa trigger is a definite upgrade. And just so you know, they've discontinued the CX4. Get em while you can.

That's the company.I figure with purchase price plus the stuff I want Siera to do I'll have pert near $1000.00 into it though.Might just get a Mech Tech CCU instead.

I have one in .40 as well. I converted mine from its PX4 magazine setup to accept my 8040 cougar mags. My ammo budget is restricted so having the rifle and pistols use the same mags and caliber gives me more utility. I bought mine used and whoever was the previous owner had already done the SP guide rod conversion. I did the SP trigger upgrade a couple of months ago and really like it. It can"t reach out and touch like an AR or AK can, but for an urban environment it is more than adequate.

I'll have to see if I can find a screaming deal on a used one.I can get a brand new one for under $700.00 but if I have to put near $300.00 into it for upgrades...I don't know.
