He never said that initially. Just asked about which of three sub par rounds he should choose.

No love for the 45 Raptor?

are you looking for a upper you can put on your AR 15, or are you looking for a new gun?

Resurrecting this old thread as I am researching the 45 Raptor now. Who has one? From what I have read on the Raptor web site, beats 450 bushy, 458 socom and the 50 beowolf in all areas.

But it's a large frame cartridge…. Hard to really compare.

Ballistics is what counts and the 45 Raptor seems to have it. Not sure on a reloading stand point as I don't know much yet. But when one company controls most of it, then lack of competition to keep costs down don't make it a consideration.

The 45 Raptor is used in an AR-10 platform instead of an AR-15, so in that regard it doesn't compare to the others. But it looks pretty awesome and a fairly inexpensive conversion if you already own an AR-10

Since selling my 50BMG, been on the hunt for a replacement that doesn't have to shock to the body after pulling the trigger as the 50BMG did. Already have a 308 bolt and short barreled AR10. I looked at the Raptor as such but this point has been racking my brain. Can't shoot the heavier bullets as the Raptor but gets close enough. Looked at the 338 Lapua but was told that recoil is actually worst. Frigging back surgery sucks for shooting the big boomers. Guess I am stuck where I am at for now. Guess one can dream though.

This 45 Raptor does not compare to the 50BMG and 338 Lapua. With a built like that I suspect you get a fairly low BC. I get people get excited about a 300gr bullet but within that calibers range will things be more or less dead than with a 308 win.

Never said it did, but you asked what the difference is. Let know when you fit a 300 gr8 in your 308.
