I was in need of a new pump action shotgun. Money is kinda tight at the moment so I went to the used market. Scored this nearly brand new condition Winchester model 120 Ranger for $225 from a local shop.

After I bought it I discovered it was missing the choke tube. Did some research and found out Browning invector chokes as well as Mossberg 500 chokes are the same thread. Local fleet store had a Browning full invector choke tube in stock. I picked it up along with a case of federal shells. Briley makes the Browning chokes so they are high quality.

Excited to shoot this gun Sunday.

You can pick up those choke tubes at pawn shops and gun shops used for around $5 if you want. It is such a common choke tube pattern that almost any place will have them. Metro Pawn has a whole bin behind the counter. You need to ask to see the choke tube box. I have found some great deals this way, even specialty ones like rifled, turkey full etc.

I never thought to ask. I'll have to see if my shop has something like that. Hopefully the weather is nice Sunday so I can break some clays with it.

Congrats! The Ranger 120 was the first firearm I ever purchased back in 1982. Picked up a couple more over the years as well as a few Defenders. Love them.

Picked up another one from the same shop I got the first one. This one is also in mint shape. Ranger model and it has the choke installed. I'll snap a pic of it tonight with the other one.

I'm a big fan of the Winchester pumps. I traded off my 12 gauge 120 Ranger on a Winchester Speed-pump with a vent rib and a slug barrel. But, I still have the 20 gauge youth/ ladies model. My Son out grew it, now his son uses it.

My very first shotgun was a 1300 defender I bought like 12 years ago. I probably put a 1000 rounds though it.

Thanks. I'm really proud to have gotten these two in the collection. I'm sure I'll get out grouse hunting with one here in the next few days.
