Pics of my cut down Mossberg. It started out as a 28" barrel with two beads. The middle bead is original, the front bead was moved back.

It could go shorter by an inch or a bit more but I like the way it looks with the rib and it shoots slugs quite well.

Thank you. It does look very nice and I had no idea there are rifle sights you can put on top of a rib

Metro Pawn & Gun has a bucket of used shotty barrels. I got out of there once with an 870 versachoke 20" barrel for $60.

Just sayin'

Frontiersman usually has something similar - and it's a good time to put a WTB out on Armslisr too. Lotsa guys looking for Xmas cash right now.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

They are surprisingly sturdy as well. I think they were about $35 back in the mid 90's. They've stayed put through a few hundred rounds of slugs and about that in shot. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to turned a ribbed gun into essentially a big rifle.

Anyway, good luck with your project, let us know how it turns out.

I did a quick search on gunbroker.com, there are a lot of short barrels for a 870. Top one on the list was a police barrel 18.5" with sights for $116, looked at it and they are new barrels. There's a variety of price ranges on the site!

Cutting down a shotgun barrel

If anybody is interested, Remington has their 21" Turkey barrels on sale right now. I ordered one thinking that 2.5" extra is not too bad versus 18.5" and having the rib and ability to change chokes is a plus.

https://www.remington.com/shop/870-Expr ... ke/p/24615

With an extra IC choke it all came to $200.

Anybody wants to buy a 26" barrel, send me a PM :)
