What's it worth? (Tikka 595 in .223 with heavy barrel)

Postby Bergie on Thu Feb 09, 2017 3:43 am

New to this forum and didn't see a 'value' section, so forgive the misplaced post if there is such a section. I have the above mentioned rifle that's just been a safe queen for a long time. So in order to get new and different toys, I'll want to sell this one. It's the standard sporter version, not the master version; heavy bull barrel and all metal is perfect......except- I noticed the other day for the first time there is a hairline crack in the furniture right near the grip. No idea how or when that happened. So in all seriousness and knowing that something is 'only worth what others are willing to pay', can someone give me an idea of value? (Can't find my pics right now, so will upload later today) *I know a difficult question to get exact answer on, but just ballparks are fine. Thanks!

This isn't the site to get values. Especially if you are selling . In order to sell something here you need a stated value. You are better off finding value by researching on Gun Broker or other site. We don't tolerate "auctions " .

But this site is very good at "low-balling" any gun sale.

I sell any gun-related item elsewhere.

Well I can buy a near new one on GunBroker right now for $675. With a crack in the stock the value becomes questionable. So without doing any extensive research I would guess anywhere from $350-$500. But as with anything you read on the internet don't take that as fact

Thanks grimbeaver, that's what I was wondering....the relative 'depreciation' due to the crack. (Wasn't looking to post it for sale in this section, I know that)(not quite sure I get the pan/spatula post)

What twist is the barrel, because if it's slower than 1/8, a lotta people want nothing to do with it these days.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

Bad news on that front - it appears to be with 1:12 twist the maximum bullet weight is 55 grains. You need a 1:8 twist for Sierra 80 grain Matchking - dunno what it is for 90 grain bullets

Not worth much with a crack in the stock.
Donald Trump got more fat women moving in one day than Michelle Obama did in eight years.

Depends on the crack and the buyer. I suspect if it's small enough and you find a buyer with the skill to repair it themselves the value to that person is different.

Just take Sam for example.... he's got a crack so huge no one is buying what he's selling at any price
