I was perusing the interwebs the other day and found a decent deal on 80% lowers. I decided I needed a couple of almost-useful chunks of aluminium in my life and, unfortunately for my marriage, my credit card was handy. I've built a couple of lowers in the past and slapped on complete uppers but never have I done and 80% lower. I have a drill press and an x-y table, I'm hoping with patience i won't eff it up too bad. As far as the rest of the build goes, I have no idea what I want it to be at this point. Any suggestions, advice, comments are welcome.

Light weight, accurate and outperforms every other AR15 caliber. Plus cheap ammo.

300blk. IMO, the most versatile caliber. From 110gr super sonic loads to 220gr subsonic rounds that are Hollywood quiet with now MN legal suppressors.

Cheap ammo is a plus. Needing dedicated mags, not so much. Also seems there aren't a lot of uppers readily available. No rush though. Its definitely being considered.

Damn, that is cheap ammo. It's hell on your barrel, but not a bad option for something you don't shoot for precision. Plus side of steel cases is you don't care about collecting your brass or dented necks.

I don't shoot enough to worry about my barrel as long as I keep it clean.

$99 LaRue trigger with TAC, add selector and grip for $15. Good deal.

Wow! MBT by itself is $125 but with the TAC it is $100. Nice!

Edit: link to the trigger takes me to TAC as well. Guess they decided to always sell it like that similar to Ruger's BX trigger.

I already have a TAC and love it, great for the office if you don't need the trigger for an AR. Great trigger practice. Make sure you get a grip.

I like the 6.5 Hansel better than the 6.5 Grendel....
