If you don't mind, can you post twist and total cost?

Overall I'm impressed with the American eagle holding a decent group, with an ok trigger release and a brand new gun.

I believe it’s a 1 in 7, same spec barrels federal used

The price isn’t too helpful because of the program but I bought two and I sold the extra to a buddy for $200 (barrel/bolt combo)

My PSA 224 Valkyrie upper arrived today, now I just need some ammo and some mags.
Anybody know of good prices for 224 mags and/or opinions on the mags?

Ammo your limited to federal only, pri mags or Barrett. I have a cheap one and it feeds horribly and really causes issues.
It's a brand new round so mags and ammo hasent been around to become cheaper.
Ammo is 10ish a box to 24ish
Good mags are 36 to 50.

Thanks. Am hoping newer ones will come out with 6.5 or even 6 twist to handle the heavier bullets.

Heavier than 90?

From what I have read on various sites, the 1:7 twist is barely working good for the 90 gr bullets but require a 24 inch barrel to work as advertised. To go with a shorter barrel, which I want, a faster twist will be needed. Savage and a few others are selling AR's with 18 inch barrels. Have read these faster twist barrels are currently in the making. But want to see real world performance to see if its correct. Also read there are heavier bullets coming thats above 90 grain.

My understanding is LaRue sent the 20” barrels to Federal and that’s what was used for the 1300 yard specs on those 90’s. Some of the guys who have the barrels are shooting 1/2” groups with them. Mine will likely go together Thursday, don’t know how soon I’ll get to the range though.

Thought all the testing were done with 24 inch barrels. From all the hype of the 90 gr doing over 1300 fps past 1000 yards, all the video's and stories stated 24 inch barrel. Post some pics when you get it together. Am curious how yours shoots. Are you able to shoot 1000 yards to test it out?

Maybe it was 24’s I just know that LaRue and Federal worked together on it and LaRue supplied 20’s. MACs claimed “first whitetail” was with the LaRue.

I may get a chance to shoot 800 yards in a month or so. Supposed to go break in my creedmoor and this at a buddies house.

So, did Larue assist Federal with the developing the cartridge or did they just build guns when Federal contacted them? I know Seekins, JP, and Savage also built guns and supplied them for field testing. (The long MAC/22Plinkster 224V video had 2 of the JP demo guns in them.)

I would like to read more about the Larue barrels. Do you have any links to user reviews on them?

There is some stuff on the LaRues in his industry section on AR15.com and there’s more discussion in the variants section there also. I don’t know much about it because I had no intention of getting one. I still think the 6.5’s are a more useful round.

The 1300 velocity was with a 24”. Guess you only get 1200 with the 20”. Wonder whose barrel it was? Do we even know if it was an AR?

Almost exactly a year ago, while doing some seasonal work day tasks at the range, I spotted my first LabRadar in use.
During a break, I approached the shooters using it; a couple of guys who worked for Federal testing a new cartridge.
I was a bit pressed for time, and more interested in the LabRadar than the particulars of cartridge, but from what I recall of the description it was probably the .224 Valkyrie.
I believe they were using a JP bolt action rifle at the time, shooting sub-minute groups at 1000.
