I guess it is best called an "AR308". The Aero Precision M5E1 upper and lower is DPMS based. DPMS 'high' profile rail. Almost all of the components I ended up going with are from or made by Aero, with the exception of the 'add-on' stuff like stock, grip, muzzle device. So I am confident it is all meant to work together. Even the barrel is made by Ballistic Advantage which is owned by Aero and makes all their barrels.

Does anyone have experience with a Larue MBT-2S trigger? They seem to be considered 'good' and at $99 may be a good choice for me. There are a couple drop-in triggers that also aren't too expensive and have great reviews (such as Rise Armament RA-140 SST @ $120) but I don't like the idea of the captured pin clips you need to use on the outside of the receiver with them.

I can see how it could become one. I think my budget will keep that in check though. :-)

You might be surprised.

Looking forward to watching the progression of the build.

It's a great trigger. I highly recommend it.

I shoot my MBT-2S's (have many) better than I shoot my Geiselle HSNM.

Have two of them. Love them. Just was bummed didn't work with the JP ambi safety I had in the one gun.

Yeah I have the bad ambis on both now. The adjustable set screw on the JP didn't work with it if I remember right.

+1 on the LaRue trigger. I have a second one on order. First one is in my Grendel rifle.

Seems like the LaRue is well liked.

So what's the deal on the lead time for these? Is it a matter of a few weeks, several months, or totally random? I tried to do some research and over the past few years have seen comments that it could be 4+ months.

Thanks,

Ghost is going to be more informed than I, but my understanding is the MBT stands for Meticulously Built Trigger, so basically they are assembled and tuned by hand so it takes more time to complete one. I think I waited for a few weeks on the last one and I'm at probably that now. I did also order the cutaway lower (TAC) that allows you to see any trigger you put into it function by allowing dry fire. Don't know if that will slow down my order or not

I decided to just call them and ask. Guy said 3-5 weeks if ordered now. They won't charge CC until it ships. That isn't too bad, time-wise. I can use the mil-spec one from the lower kit until then.

I have extras I could loan if you need/want one sooner. It may come faster. My Valkyrie barrels weren’t even supposed to be made according to a call to LaRue but they’ll arrive tomorrow.

That's mighty nice of you to offer. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks.
