Now that one ended up right side up for some reason?

Must be a left handed camera ;)

Why'd you blur out the scope brand? Is it NighForse or some other knock off?

Here I thought you slapped a Vortex image over the turret cap of a Schmitt & Bender and just didn't want to show off how baller you really roll. :P

I just put a pair of Steiner p4xi's on my .458S' last week. Had a defective one sent via Amazon Warehouse deals, returned it, found out GovX had them and ordered one, a week later they cancelled my order because Steiner is out of stock... So back to Amazon and the next Warehouse deals p4xi and ordered a new one just in case... Well, the WD one was only missing the throw lever, and otherwise perfect. I decided to keep 'em both.

I never claim to be baller, just balder. ;)

You folks who own the 458, any reason you went this route instead of 50 Beowulf? Been considering a Beowulf for awhile but read the long thread on AR15.com and now weighing both pro’s and cons between both. 458 has more ammo options from what I have read. Anything I’m missing?

Bullet selection, barrel selection, Starline brass is in high enough demand they run it regularly.

Bottleneck cartridge is more accurate since it headspaces off the shoulder.

There's at least a prayer of SAAMI certification as it's not copywrited.

Bullet selection is the big one though. 50 Beowulf does win the KE race.

Honestly, because I shot FJs and had to have one, but projectile selection weighed in plus I have a soft spot for .45-70 so...

They're like a .45-70 "special" in context of .44 mag/special (without carrying the example down to actual variations in fps - it's figuratively accurate for illustration purposes). Or maybe .45-70 lite. :)

Since MN became suppressor friendly around the same time I got interested in a big bore AR; it dawned on me that this iteration was what the 300blk wanted to be all along for suppressed hunting. Mag capacity no longer mattered (4+1 in a 10rnd mag), and we're limited by the speed of sound - so the heaviest bullet we can launch around 1050fps wins. Well, with a 1:12 twist barrel, that's 600 or a little more grains! Or roughly a 12ga slug out of an AR pistol, hearing safe.

The standard twist is 1:14, and it will also stabilize 600+gr, but the solid copper guys needed more twist.

I plan on hunting bear again this fall with mine, and if the NFA is neutered of cans, it will be with my 10.5" pistol sporting a suppressor.

50 Beowulf can't do that.

There is just something about throwing a large chunk of hard cast lead downrange that feels so right!
