Isn't it a .223 necked up to .30?

I am working on a .350 legend. Should be pretty similar.

The case is a little longer than the 300BO case. So a little more powder can be use. IF their claims on the list of bullets tested are true, then should be a better cartridge. They also make a 458 Ham'R.

Yes. I thought about getting a 300BO barrel but in a 1:10 or 1:12 twist for around 100 grain bullets for better distance accuracy (supers only). Asked questions on AR15.com site to see if anyone has done it. That’s how I learned about the 300 Ham’R. So far it has my attention. Still have more research to decide whether it’s worth the cost vs benefit.

.300 Blackout

Then it’s got more velocity and energy

My understanding is that it is optimized for supersonic loads which the .300 Blackout does not perform well with. It gains a bit more muzzle velocity with those same loads providing (Wilson claim) true better than .30-30 performance out of an AR platform.

They claim it beats the .30-30, 7.62x39, .300 blackout, 6.5 Grendel.

Now I love new load development, I am a bit of a ballistics geek but we all know it can't beat the Grendel. The Grendel is able to shoot across galaxies and still maintain enough velocity too drop an elephant even if only hit in the toe.

Similar weight and velocity to Grendel but worse BC and SD

I compared their data on a 110 grain bullet to my v-max 110 out of my 16 inch barrel. Mine averages 2300 fps. IF there claim of 2500-2600 is true, then it should be a better performer with supers than the 300BO. I use H110 whereas they are using cfeblk. If I decide to get one, may go with an 18 inch barrel so I can push it a tab bit further. They use a 1:15 twist, mine is a 1:8 twist. Have never used cfeblk. Anyone use this powder?

Given that with the 110 TTSX I’m getting 2400 with the .300 whisper/blk out of a 10” pistol AR using H110 (Barnes load, it’s notorious for being a bit hot) I really doubt the HMR is really that much better.

You will have to pay WC prices as well, so color me dubious of any great advantage.

BTW, the Grendel is crap... you want the 264 LBC. ;)
