Oddball Afghan gun and old military need identifying

Postby VMAX97 on Mon Feb 17, 2020 10:14 pm

Attaching pictures of an old Afghan gun that my In-laws bought back in the 60s. Not sure if this is junk or what.
The other gun I think might be an M1 in 30-06 only because my father in law has 30-06 ammo and no other rifles, have not run the serial number in Google yet.
Both in-laws are now deceased and since I am the family gun nut, it is my job to do the research for my wife's family, any thoughts or links would be appreciated.

So when you say the "other gun". Do you mean the 1st picture of a M1903 Springfield? That would explain his supply of .30-06 ammo.

The other one is what they call a jezail flintlock. Indian and afganie. Wall hanger only.

So reading more on the Jezail. Sounds like they are often faked to be sold to tourists. Definitely not something to try to fire. If it is real it sounds like it could have collector value but it sounds like a very murky issue where you would need a pro to look it over. Someone who knows how to tell a fake from a real one.
