I'm looking to upgrade the original trigger in my Right Handed, .308 Win Remington 700.

I'm looking at a TrigerTech Special Flat Bow on MidwayUSA:

It's adjustable from 1.0 to 3.5 lbs. and has a bolt release and safety. Here's the rifle:


Used for casual target shooting and occasional long range in South Dakota. AR10 in background...

Any others you might recommend? Thoughts on Flat vs. Curved?

I would go with a Timney. They've been making Rem 700 triggers for decades and have it nailed down. It will fit. It will work.

And it will break like glass. This is excellent advice.

Some of the people that shoot in competition love their Shilen Triggers. I've also been told Bix & Andy triggers are excellent as well. You might also check Jewell Triggers too. All three of these are used in various rifle competition, and are highly regarded by some of the top shooters. Some of these can go quite low in trigger pull weight, depending on your intended usage.

What are you looking to do with the rifle?

You don't want too light a trigger pull with that last one.

You also don't want too light of one on a hunting rifle. Especially one with a lot of recoil involved.

Huh? I get the hunting rifle part, but recoil? Doubling on a bolt action?

I like lighter triggers on my hunting rifles but then again we are talking deer from a stand so precision shots with no stress.

If you have ever touched the trigger a little too firmly with a big bore rifle and had it go off when its not expected, interesting things happen. Kaibab eye being one. I'm talking things like a .416 or bigger. Its common with gloves on.

I added a photo of the rifle above. Using it for some long range shooting in South Dakota. Learning how to read wind, MIL a target and generally become a better long range shooter. Shooting 175 grain Sierra Match King bullets.

Nice looking rifle

I replaced the Jewell trigger in my wife’s F-TR Rifle last year with the Geissele Super 700. It is excellent in every way, especially for the price.

If you want to try a Jewell, I would make you a deal on the one I removed.
