Is there anything lighter in that price range? I'd love a browning citori but they're way to expensive.

They are hard to find and the Instinct Sporting II is 2k msrp

https://www.franchiusa.com/sporting-shotguns

They look nice, if it was 1.5k I would buy one.

Sorry, thought they were a bit more economical.

I would go the CZ route myself, I have not owned one but I have several of their rifles and they are too quality. I have handled their shotguns at shows and they seem on par.

It's ok, it did get me looking at a:

Browning Cynergy CX Composite

Maybe I should just save some a buy the Franchi...

Up until 10ish years ago the Orion's were made by SKB of Japan and were very good quality. I think they are currently made by someone in Turkey. I've never handled a new one, and can't comment on their quality.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Have you considered an older Ruger Red Label?

Unfortunately, it seems like there are only two O/U classes, those that are low cost and swing like a piece of lumber and those that are are expensive but are joys to hold and shoot. Not much in between from what I've seen.

It’s all about how well the gun fits you.

Decent double gun and economical are mutually exclusive terms in my experience.

If I was trying to do it on a budget, I’d go looking for a used piece. I’d rather have a good fit cosmetically beat up gun than a new one that doesn’t fit me well.

Strangely, an old SxS Stevens 16 ga I picked up for $350 hits every bit as well as my Perazzi (which was also a used purchase).

I think I'll have to drive to a bunch of gun stores and see if any of them have any. I don't under stand how $1.5k is a budget gun?

Some times you need a solid 2x4.

I ordered a

https://www.beretta.com/en/686-silver-p ... -sporting/

I think she'll be a good gun, thank you all for helping! :D

I might add some extended choke tubes but that would be mostly because I think they look cool, gold might go with the trigger. :D

Next I'll need to find a club or league to play in and a buch of ammo. My brother wants me to reload.

Nice buy. It will serve you well for many many years. I reload shotgun loads. To be honest for 12ga it's not worth it. And you won't find components any easier than ammo right now. Anything you shoot a lot you will want a progressive press. A MEC 9000GN is $775 (msrp) and that's probably the cheapest I would consider (if buying new). I have single stage presses for 20ga and 28ga. The progressive I can do 400+/hr on. The single stage is more like 120/hr. And more importantly even expensive machines have quirks that you will curse and will slow you down.
