Blueprint action

Postby ASmith on Thu Mar 16, 2023 12:16 pm

So I've been tossing the idea around of building a rifle for out west. I have an old Remington 721 chambered in 30-06 that I would probably use for the action. And probably rebarrel with some carbon fiber 7mm variant, maybe the 7mm PRC....still looking over options.

My question for all you is this.
What SE MN gunsmith do you recommend to true up the action and have it blue printed?

Thanks in advance!

Given the cost to fully blueprint the action, may just want to consider a Rem 700 clone action. Also, truing and action may require oversize threads which would require a gunsmith threaded barrel and eliminate the option of going with a pre-fit barrel. My understanding is that a 721 has the same barrel tenon as a 700, so a pre-fit barrel for a Rem 700 SHOULD work. I went a pre-fit barrel with an old action I had and just had the bolt lugs trued with very good results. Before hacking into a 721, you may also want to check on the value. Good luck!
