Pistol grip on shotgun

Postby eph78 on Sun Jun 07, 2009 1:48 pm

Is it legal in MN to have a pump shotgun with a 18.5" barrel and a pistol grip? Like lets say you cut down the barrel to 18.5 and modify the buttstock to be a pistol grip? :?:

Yes it is legal, as long as it has an overall length of 26 inches.

Buy a pistol grip instead of cutting off the stock. That way you can go back when you realize how hard it is to control a PG shotgun. My two cents.

+1

Also, the nice contoured pistol grips you buy will fit your hand better and help control the shotgun a little more over the shaved down wood.

It is a Hiawatha 567 (Savage 67) pump, I cant find any pistol grips that will fit. Looks like the ATI folding stock might work, but it does not specify the Savage.

I guess I will have to hand carve the buttstock (sounds kind of dirty)... :D

See if you can try shooting some one elses pistol grip shotty before you ruin your's. My two cents, as well as just about anyone else who's experienced a pistol grip shot gun.

You better start building up them wrist muscles! I don't know anyone (Ahnold excepted) who's ever wanted to shoot a PG shotgun more than two rounds.

Ask ttousi or HammAR to show you the exercises they use - those two are the biggest pair of w***kers I know!

PG Shotty's are a WASTE OF TIME and are handy to carry but impractical to use.

Besides, pistol grip shotguns make your pants fall down:

Decrypt the points of departure and return your head slowly and you do not cancel your hair.

If you are looking for home use, look at a 20 ga. or 410 ga PG shotgun. It''s easy on the hands. At 10 t0 maybe 20 feet it all the same.

I would say +1 on the 20g, but the 410 gets a thumbs-down from me. When I worked at North I saw too many people with superficial wounds from 410's to get all excited about that round. Granted, you don't know what loads they were shooting, but seeing the effects of a 410 left me superbly underwhelmed. If you go small, go BIG with the pellets, or use slugs.

Just my 2 cents....
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.
