Been poking around for a 30-06 in case I get a chance to go deer hunting...

I just got an email from CDNN saying that they have a $150 mail in rebate on Thompson, and a 30-06 for $579.99

Can anyone tell me about this rifle, or Thompson rifles in general? Good deal, stay away?

Haven't shot one, but have handled a few. They have just about everything I want in a rifle. I think they were just in a crowded market and didn't sell well and then got balled up with their merger with S&W.

I've been intrigued by that rifle for a couple of years and I've never actually seen one. TC does a top knotch job in manufacturing, the specs are right and the price is more than fair...it's got to be a winner IMO.

The safety is very loud ( noticable click) and the bolt handle runs very tight down alongside the stock which makes it hard to use when shouldered.
