Thank you Arnzen Arms. She is a beauty. Can't wait to feel the pain when I shoot it for the first time!

My favorite quote on this gun from another forum: "after an extended practice session you just might decide that death by bear attack is the preferable alternative."

Assuming that beast is steel, seeing as I don't see the Scandium logo, I still have to ask what were you thinking? Yes it's potent, yes it's small, and yes it's really going to hurt with factory 44 mag loads. Not sorta hurt, or maybe you can used to it hurt, but EVERY last time you pull the trigger hurt. The Smith Scandium 329's with a full size grip on it is still beyond the range of being tolerable, at least by the guys at Wolf's Den who love the Smith 500 (they have a range in the basement...) with the vicious 440 grain factory loads, and they handed the 329 back after one shot. This is like signing on to be a permanent n00b here and keep asking if Bullseye is a good all around reloading powder for all calibers, and then having me crawl out from under my bridge and break an empty Night Train bottle over your head or whack you with an empty Sterno can. After a while, you WILL stop coming back...

Yes it will be a thrill, but this this is like the line from the movie Zero Dark 30 where they're torturing the money guy, and tell him that he will finally give it up, because it's a biological inevitability. Same deal for your shooting hand. After a while if you even think of this gun, you'll tense up inside, which is really, really bad for a carry gun. It will wind up gathering dust in your safe.

It is a scandium frame and it weighs a whopping 28.8 oz

Good to see you got one, they just discontinued those...

It is Scandium and I know it will hurt. I have always wanted one and that's the reason I bought it. I don't intend to carry it unless I am hiking in brown bear country, and the next time I do that will be the first. It will largely be a safe queen and I knew that going in. Not everything has to be about utility.

Probably cheaper to just wear leather gloves and light off firecrackers in your hand, than paying to feed that little beast

Plus Squib Joe says it's a discontinued, COLLECTABLE safe queen now, so it's worth more!! Glad to see you went into the deal with your eyes wide open and knowing what the situation was. That Smith 500 Snubbie wasn't in AA's display case for about $775 for no reason, because somebody didn't know what they were getting into like you do and wound up with more than they could handle.

P.S. That Smith was only there for about 3 days, so fahgeddabhoutit!!

I had one of those when they first came out--had a different grip (Pachmayr Decelerator type, as I recall).

The term "Fistfull of Dynamite" has never been so applicable.

Traded it for the .45acp version--and I don't miss the 329 a bit.

Hope you like yours more.

I bought a Alaskan 44 just because, I put the short grips from a SP101 on because it fits better in my pocket ;) Cant wait to get out and shoot it.
I had a Bulldog 44 SP that I gave to my brother because I didnt enjoy shooting it.

don't listen to em. It's a sweet gun. You can always buy .44 special rounds for carry or if you reload you can make some pretty light stuff for the .44 mag.
.44 special is quite a bit of power anyway. I fondled that gun at arnzen arms months ago. It was pretty interesting.
