Used revolver price check

Postby sininja on Wed Aug 26, 2009 10:50 am

I'm about to finalize the purchase from a co-worker. It's a rossi 2" 38spl blued with 2 extra grips, holster, 150rds ammo, and original box/paperwork. Only has 20 rounds through it, new condition. $300 ?? I'm happy with the price, any input?

what are similar guns going for on gunbroker.com?
The ammo is worth something (?$75)
The holster is worth something (?$10 - $40)
The grips are things that didn't work out for the co-worker and may not work for you. I wouldn't add money for them.
I'd say if you find similar guns on gunbroker going for ~$225 or more, go for it :-)

I agree. plus no taxes or shipping or ffl-transfer fees... I think it's a good deal.

Good point.

If the ammo is retail / factory loaded, not reloads. There are VERY few people whose reloads I'd shoot. (3 out of all the people I know)

thenthe ammo is worth more and the deal sounds decent. silver tips can be in the $0.75 - $1.00 a round price point when you can find them

I'm doing some research now and while the deal seems fair I'm seeing lots of negatives on 'rossi' revolvers. Now I'm hesitant... Work is slow and I'd have to sell my rifle to afford a smith or ruger. Hmmm...

Rossi's used to be pretty decent.. Haven't any exposure to them for many years though. Similar guns are selling in the 230-250 range. so your price is fair.

I had a rossi .22 revolver for about thirty years. (man that makes me sound old). Never had a bitof trouble with it. It was a gift to a nephew when he turned 18. Price is decent and you can easily get out of it with little or no loss if want later.iu

but with that age comes experience, so it's at least a half way decent trade off. :-)
