Daewoo Handguns?

Postby Flip on Sat Dec 12, 2009 7:21 pm

At the MWCA show today & saw a Daewoo handgun. Does anyone know anything about these? No, I'm not planning to buy one, I just wanted to know what's up with them.

PS. It was nice to meet Westberg today. He let me play with the Fenix flashlights at his booth. Christmas may have to come early for the "Flipster"

They are fine guns - they used to market them as a fast action pistol.

You moved the cocked hammer forward and it readies the weapon for "fast action"

If you get one buy lots of mags.

Very similar feel to a sigarms - similar operation to a CZ.

I've had one forever. That "fast action" thing is stupid. The gun is Korean. Parts don't exist.

I had a DH40 a while back.

Worst gun I ever owned. I had all kinds of problems with the trigger and brought it to multiple gunsmiths. They all recommended the same thing. Pawn it or use it as a paperweight.

Daewoo... maybe they're the Korean version of Yamaha - manufacturing a little bit of everything. It seems as if they don't have the quality reputation of Yamaha though, which as we know makes decent stuff from guitars to band instruments to Motorcycles and ATVs back to home audio equipment.

Remember when Daewoo was building cars for the US market? That didn't last long. They still do build a car sold here, although it's imported by Chevrolet and rebadged as the Aveo.

We had Daewoo TV's when I worked at best buy. We had a lot of them. Most of them open box....(returns)

There is also the Pontiac G3, the Suzuki Forenza, and the Suzuki Reno.

GM owns the majority of Daewoo motors. Daewoo Precision Industries no longer exists

Daewoo makes/made a very nice battle rifle though. There has been one (with the rear sight wings hacked off) at Cabela's in Rogers for quite a while. They are good shooters and are pretty similar to piston-driven ARs.

The Rodentwoman has an 04 Aveo with 92k miles on it. We just did front brakes. Other than routine maintenance (stinking cam belt, tires....) I have had no trouble with the little thing. I don't like it but she does.

How did this thread get from Daewoo handguns, which are Korean, to Chevy Aveo's which, I thought, were from Suzuki? I have an 06 with about 72k on it. The damn thing is fantastic. It was $10,300 otd. I anticipate it being the cheapest dollar per mile car I've ever owned - by a longshot.

A good buddy has one. They seem to be the best of all words - bits of AK thinking and AR. They;s also been around for a while and have an excellent track record.
