New Generation 4 Glocks

Postby Paul on Thu Dec 17, 2009 1:25 pm

Don't know if this is a repeat... But I just saw that Glock is getting ready to release official Generation 4 pistols (not just RTF's), that will include ambidextrous slide/magazine releases, and interchangeable back straps. Thought it was interesting... We'll see.

Here's one hot off the press. This was seen on the back of the 2010 calendar.

Note new RTF3 finish, replaceable back straps, new mag catch. Not sure if all new ones will say Gen4 on the slides. Will be interesting to know if Gen4 slides will be compatible with older models.

The Gen 4 Glock is likely to be built with the .40 S&W in mind, with the 9mm, .357 Sig, etc. adopting the same frame.

Those sons a bitches.

Don't panic, he can use the new grip texture to grind it off like a cheese grater.

Wow innovation at its best. Removable backstraps and a extended mag release, things the competitirs have had for years. While these might be improvements it is hardly enough to make folks dump their old glocks for new. This was done speicifically for LE which are buying M&P's as fast a they can, Glocks trying to market to the Bid specs that require changable backstraps.

I've got a 27 and its a great little gun but lets not go ga ga over something that they copied off their comp.

A few more innovations, and they will be pretty close to the JMB designed 1911. ;)

Pat, you got that right. But that thumb and grip safety are going to make more than a few Glock guys sick. Heck most of them won't be able to figure out how they work.

The next big marketing opportunity, 'Improved Glock usage for the vintage Glock user'. Classes coming to a store near you soon.

A good friend of mine has a Glock 18. The first time I saw it, I was amazed that Glock had finally decided to install a safety on their pistol. I was wrong. It was a giggle switch... ;)

Some Glock models overseas have safety switches.
