Check out the new Sig P250 at http://www.sigsauer.com/Default.aspx
A "modular" handgun. It looks really interesting and the price looks pretty good for a Sig. I am looking forward to trying one out.

This looks like it has the potential of becoming the AR of handguns...

(yes they know how to stir up demand at Sig)
They will be all 9mm in black and two-tone. The drop in 40SW and 45ACP assemblies will be coming sometime next year.

I made a deposit right before the IDPA match on Sunday and now Bill's has one in bi tone and 4 in black . Normally I would not buy one of 1st ones off the line but this is a SIG, ( Flame suit ON) and I'll let you know. For the $650 + price you get one gun, similar in size to the Sig 229. Per Sig management the 9mm slide has been reworked and will also support 357SIG and the 40S&W in the same holster, obviously with a new barrel and mags. Since 9mm is European choice the SIG engineers in NH finalized the design to suit the American LEO preference for the 40S&W, thus the delayed introduction.
I've looked but not seen what the different frames will cost, $400 was mentioned, but not confirmed or denied on the SIG forum. God, I hope not for a Polymer grip! The "medium" grip I'll receive is described as just slightly larger around than the Glock 19, which will be fine. Trigger is normal and DAO testing 5.5 to 6 lbs.
It was clear the 45 ACP will come later, much like the M&P 45 did, but I've not seen a date. Also unanswered is will the mags from my 229 SAS fit the SIG 250? With the 229 I have in 40S&W I purchased a BarSto conversion barrel and can shoot 9mm using the 229 40 mags. Here's hoping they fit, again I'll let the group know. SIG forum advising they are shipping later this week to dealers, I hope that is accurate and it does confirm the arrival dates Joe gave me.
Be interesting to see Glock's response. They have been peddling the SF G21 frame only replacement to LEOs, but need to do a lot more to catch the M&P and SIG.
