Now translate that to 96 % of the people who need a firearm for defense, but who are not into the gun culture as we are. Person is threatened with an attacker, the gun comes out, and as soon as there is bad guy in front of the muzzle, start shooting. Don't stop till he's no longer in front of the muzzle. Pretty simple really

I completely agree with the concept from the perspective of a fight. Like I said, it's a heck of a lot better to shoot in the direction of the bad guy than to do nothing.

I don't personally agree with the idea that it's an effective or appropriate approach to instructing students (in any application...including the DoS one). Again, my reasoning here is that I've worked pretty extensively on the user end with those same people and they quite simply don't carry guns, even when they know they are going into dangerous situations. Their reasoning? They KNOW from their little bit of training that they have no idea what they are doing and they believe that the weapon is more of a liability to them than an asset.

Translate that to a civilian who needs a firearm for self-defense and you often get a permit holder who keeps the gun locked up in a separate room from the ammunition and never carries it.

I do agree on that idea but we have different minds. Not all people will use that in a proper way when talking about the issuance of guns for self defense.
