Who has the "hand cannons" ???

Postby Magnum Wheel Man on Mon Nov 19, 2007 7:57 am

new guy to this forum, but not new to forums or shooting... 1st off, looks like a great local forum...

... maybe you can tell by my forum name, but I love the big boomers, revolvers, autos, & long guns...

a couple noteworthy of mentioning, are my Automags, my custom "50 special" Blackhawk, my custom 50 AE Marlin Lever action, my Martini's in 50-70 Gov., & 45-70 Safari, & my Brownings in 338 Win Mag, & 375 H&H... I'm also a big collector of Contenders, & own a barrel in almost every caliber, along with a few one of a kinds...

... my newest purchase is a Ruger Alaskan in 454 Casull... glad to post a few pics if anyone were curious... who has the boomers here, & what do you shoot ???

My Stainless Dan Wesson in 357 Max... ;)

Welcome to our motley crew! Sounds like you have quite a collection.

So, just how in the Dickens do you shoot those canons?

I live on a farm in southern MN, & have my own 300 yard rifle & pistol range...

actually shooting them is easy... I just pull the trigger...

... but I'm a big guy, so I soak up recoil pretty well, & as I never got to shoot much as a kid ( my dad hated guns ), I started out late in life in the shooting sports, so, I don't shoot too well, so it doesn't seem to matter too much wheather I'm shooting a 22 or a 45-70 as far as group sizes go...

my little Dan Wesson... ( the "original alaskan revolver" ) this gun was built over 10 years ago, long before the concept of the "alaskan snubbie revolver" 44 Mag Dan Wesson full sized snubbie with barrel nut compensator...

Does a .454 and .475 count?

Damn! I feel like mine isn't big enough. :( I've got four .44 magnums ranging in size from 3" to 7.5" and I'm starting to think they're too small to post in this thread.

50 GI - my carry gun  It shoots 300 grain Gold Dots at 880 FPS. :D

Image

A Tromix Sledgehammer chambered in 50AE. Yes, Virginia, a real live 50 caliber assault rifle... (mag holds 14 rounds..)

Image

A Desert Eagle in the very rare .440 Corbon Magnum Round - 240 grain bullet at 1600 FPS w/6" bbl.
(Yes, I have the DE50 barrel for it too...

Image

And a Smith 500 that looks like everybody else's, so there's no point for a picture...

Springfield V-16 longslide in 45 Super - puts a 230 grain bullet out the barrel at 1200 FPS...

Image

What appears to be a plain vanilla EAA 45 Witness, except it's also set up for 45 Super - puts a 185 grain XTP out the barrel at 1250 FPS, so the gun is ballistically an 11 shot 41 Magnum semi-auto... The recoil from this little bitch is quite brisk...

My wrists hurt just reading this. I'll stick to my little .45s and .357s.

Nice collection. You too Sam.

Do you have problems with the glass getting residue on it?

WHOA.... nice guns guys...

S.SAM... very nice custom guns...I was going to say that the G.I. 50 was very impressive, but who am I kidding... they all are...

here are a few pics of my custom 50 A.E. Marlin Lever ( started life as a little 44 mag carbine )turned from a ***** cat to a monster to shoot ( especially with heavy cast bullets in a hotter handload

How about an antique ( er well sorta ) a nice tight Martini tropical action fitted with a light weight hex 458 win mag barrel, rechambered to 45-70 & fitted with a 3 leaf safari sight...
Guns 010.jpg

or how about a rare Automag 4 in 10 mm Magnum ( I knew this would never fly when released, so I bought 1000 Star line brass when I bought the gun ;) )... oh, my Auto mag 2 is in the bottom of this pic, the auto mag 3 appears to be camera shy...

SOMEONE...The gas ports are cut at an angle, that keeps the gas & ash away from the lens... that gun has been set up that way for nearly 10 years, & the front lense is free of inclusions ( I do have other pistol scopes that have damaged front lenses though, so it is normally a concern... ) here is a close up of the comp / nut on the 44 mag snubbie, you can see the angle of cut on the port
