A pretty good price, considering....http://www.google.com/products?q=dan+we ... hl=en&aq=f

My issue with the CZ line has been the price jump since the introduction. the first non external extractor one I was going to buy was 790 Bucks, and it had all the bells and whistles that these have. Maybe they put 400 dollars worth of hand fitting into that gun, but its hard to tell....

The new DWs are nice, but they did jump up quite a bit in price.. I'd put them up there with Kimber Custom Shop guns as far as fit and finish. I'll still miss the Pointman and Razorbacks.

Back on topic, I like the Springfield GI series or Mil-Spec as a basic 1911. Never had much luck with the Philippines guns.

Really? I've almost never heard of people having problems with they RIA / Citadel / old Charles Daly (Armscor) guns (or are you referring to the Metro Arms guns?). Would you mind sharing what kind of problems you've had? I have been to your shop in Circle Pines and saw the Rock Islands that were "gritty" but I've shot a RIA Tactical that I thought was pretty good for the investment.

I agree. Never had good luck with Colts and Kimbers. The RIAs and Citadels tend to be flawless and you can't beat the value for the dollar.

They all work, but you can feel the loose tolerances and poor triggers, mainly with the Armscor guns. I've also seen a number of clearly out of spec frames in (mostly earlier) PI guns, as well as poorly-fit beavertail safeties, mainspring housings and sloppy slide safeties.

From a price perspective, I think the Brazilian guns have better materials and workmanship without a huge increase in price.

I would sure rather have a gun that works and that can be trusted than a name. A Colt or Kimber that can't be trusted is still no better than a club. Current manufacture of these guns is marginal at best and cost a grand or more. The Citadels and American Classics for example are tight and go bang when you pull the trigger every time. Don't get me wrong, I own both a Kimber and a couple of Colts and can't trust any of them and they all have been "Fixed" by either the manufacturer or a competent 1911 Smith. Bottom line is, if you are looking for a project or just a 1911 that you can totally trust, I would look anywhere other than current Colt or Kimber.

Its a pretty gun, I saw it at Metro a week or so ago. Nice to put a face with the name too.

Cabela's showed a DW Razorback in their most recent flyer for $1,100 I think. I don't know where they got them. I thought they were disc. I got mine there a few months ago. I thought it was a leftover. Maybe they have more excess inventory........
